Almost twelve years.
That's how long I had been missing.
My entire life changed the night that I went out with him onto the water. All because of a stupid dare.
I wasn't the only one that went missing. For so long I suffered alone but then she appeared. She became my sister, my friend.
But she managed to get away while I remained, chained to the earth like a dog.
I spent years waiting for Eddie to save me, to pull me out of my dirty prison beneath the ground. And when he did, I never expected to find her with him. The boy that I loved was now a man and, not only did she have a new name, she also had his heart.
We should have known better. We all knew the scary stories about Lake Loch, that it held it's own Loch Ness Monster, but we were foolish kids back then.
The night I was kidnapped, I learned that our sleepy little lake town held secrets much darker than we ever knew. Out on Rumor Island there was a monster more dark and sinister than we ever could have imagined. But it wasn't a mythical creature.
He was human.
And He wanted us back.
