GoodReads Synopsis:
How do you defy destiny?
Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it's getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she's haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they're destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history.
As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart.
Review:
This book... I have a sort of history with this book even though this is the first time I've ever actually read it.   In 2011 I discovered the book blogging community. I don't remember how it happened exactly but I absolutely fell in love with it and knew that, as an avid reader, I had to become a part of it. So I did. I immediately set about making my blog but I only had one problem. I had absolutely no idea what to name it. I ran through so many ideas in my head but nothing seemed right. And then I started seeing Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini floating around almost every single blog that I followed. I had no idea what it was about but I loved the cover and I loved the name. It was romantic and booksih and reminded me of Romeo and Juliet, a story that I have always loved. And so, Starcrossed Reviews was born and the color scheme was purple and black. (Later shut SR down and started RD&PJs). No, one would assume that I would immediately pick up and read the book that inspired the name of my blog, but I didn't. My fellow bloggers know how the infamous TBR pile is and this book seemed to always get shoved to the bottom of the list. I have no idea why, I just never seemed to pick it up. Until almost five years later.

And it was absolutely amazing! Oh my gosh, why did I wait so long? This book seriously blew my mind with its awesomeness and I couldn't get enough of it. I really wish I would have read it sooner.

The characters were great and believeable, the mythological aspect was so well knitted into the story and so well done that I couldn't stop reading. Every part of this book was written beautifully and every part of the story worked so well together. Angelini left me guessing throughout the whole book, wondering what was going to happen next.

I often find that books are pretty predictable, but not this one. I quickly fell in love with the characters and their lives and I cannot wait to get the next book and find out what happens next!

Rating: 4 Stars.
Favorite Character: Lucas

  2. It is one of my favorite series. The story was fantastic and the secondary characters very interesting. I would love to read about some of their stories too.
