I think the only book I ever read set in Ireland was the terrible and horrible, did I say terrible?, sequel to Gone With The Wind. I don't even remember the name of the book.
I haven't read that many books with Irish characters, but some good ones that come to mind are Longing for Home and Longing for Home: Hope Springs by Sarah M. Eden.
