GoodReads Summary:
Can there truly be love after death?
Drifting in the dark waters of a mysterious river, the only thing Amelia knows for sure is that she's dead. With no recollection of her past life—or her actual death—she's trapped alone in a nightmarish existence. All of this changes when she tries to rescue a boy, Joshua, from drowning in her river. As a ghost, she can do nothing but will him to live. Yet in an unforgettable moment of connection, she helps him survive.
Amelia and Joshua grow ever closer as they begin to uncover the strange circumstances of her death and the secrets of the dark river that held her captive for so long. But even while they struggle to keep their bond hidden from the living world, a frightening spirit named Eli is doing everything in his power to destroy their newfound happiness and drag Amelia back into the ghost world . . . forever.
Thrilling and evocative, with moments of pure pleasure, Hereafter is a sensation you won't want to miss.
 Review:
(This review was originally written in 2013 but was never posted).
This is one of those books that has been on my wishlist for a really long time. Almost as long as I've been doing reviews. I never could manage to get my hands on it until I finally got lucky and won it in a giveaway.

The cover of the book is absolutely beautiful and the one thing that initially drew me to it. Once I began to read, however, it didn't take long for me to fall in love with the story.

I really loved Amelia's character and everything that she had to go through. I think Tara Hudson did a really good job at making Amelia's afterlife seem real and tangible; especially after she meets Joshua and begins to realize what it's like to feel alive again.

I really did enjoy Hereafter and it definitely lived up to the expectations that I had for it. I really would read this one again and can't wait to discover more books by Tara Hudson.
