Review
I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this product at first.  I'm always super excited for face masks but they go one of two ways; they dry my skin out suuuper bad or they work. Most of them, even the "hydration" ones and the ones MADE for dry skin end up drying my skin out worse and making it dry, flaky and tight feeling. I'm happy to say that this product actually worked!  I really am liking this and I will probably purchase it again in the future.

It does say that  it's gentle enough for everyday use and I've used it three times, with a day in between, and it hasn't bothered my face at all.
When I put it on for the first time, it just felt kind of thick and sticky but it dried super quickly. As it started to dry, I got nervous because I could feel the "tightness" that I commonly associate with the ones that end badly.  This one however, didn't last long.  I felt the tightness but then it went away.  After the product dried I honestly almost completely forgot that it was on my face.  The directions on the back say to leave the product on for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing and I'm sure that I accidentally left mine on longer. But leaving it on longer caused not problems at all.

Whe it came time to remove it, the hydration mask rinsed off easily and, thankfully, I had absolutely no negative reactions to it and my skin felt amazing afterwards. Before I applied the mask, I had washed and lightly exfoliated my face and after I removed it, I followed up with a gentle toner and a moisturizer.

If you have dry skin and you're looking for a face mask I would definitely recommend giving this one a try.  It's probably the best one I've used to date and I'm very curious and excited to try other OZ Naturals products.  If they're anything like this hydration mask, I will be completely changing my skincare routine.

The Write Space hosted by Rainy Days and Pajamas!

So a name for my new blog feature has been chosen (Thanks to my friend Grace!) I will begin the series next week (Sept. 7th) by sharing my own desk/office space. Posts will go out every Monday (if I have enough participation).

So, would any of my author/blogger/promotional people like to share their desks?  I don't care how many followers you have! If you have a desk and want to share it, then I want to see it!

It is a guest post series, so share some details about your space, any special trinkets or stories you have about things on it (keep it a decent length though, don't wanna go too crazy!) and pleas PLEASE share 1-3 photos! I wanna see your desks (or table, bed, couch... wherever you write/do your work.  I don't judge)!

I will include a link back to your blog, website, GoodReads page, whatever. If you're an author, I'll share the covers of your books and GoodReads pages/buy links.

If you'd like to share, please comment below with your email so I can contact you or email me at darcusmurray@hotmail.com!

Review: Ipsy GlamBag (August 2015)

Yep!  It's Ipsy time again!
If you'd like to get your own bag,

THEME
This month's GlamBag theme was "Prep School". I wasn't too sure how I was going to feel about this bag but I knew that it would probably have a lot of great products. A prep school student wouldn't use crappy makeup, would they? ;)

THE BAG
I really liked the look of the bag in the pictures that were floating around the Ipsy website and Instagram page.  When I actually pulled the bag out of that pink mailer, I was ecstatic.  The clutch was so much better than I had originally thought it was going to be.  Instead of a cloth material, it's made out of a sturdier, plastic-type material.  I'm not sure exactly what the material is and I couldn't find anything online.  So far, it's one of my favorite bags.

The Products

Briogeo Blossom & Bloom Volumizing Blow Dry Spray
When I first pulled this item out, I kind of had mixed feelings about it.  I used to blow dry my hair every single time I would get out of the shower but this past year, I've really started to appreciate the way my hair looks when it air dries. So, I'm not sure how much use I will get out of this product.  I do really love the smell of it, though.  It smells absolutely amazing but I'm not sure if that is enough for me to keep it.  I may end up giving this item away.

Hikari Lip Gloss (Salsa)
To be completely honest, I was not excited for this product at all.  Anytime I pull a lip gloss out of my Ipsy I do a little dramatic sigh (in my head).  I do not like lip gloss. I don't like the way it feels, I don't like the shininess of it, I don't even like the way it applies.  I don't like anything about it except maybe how vibrant the colors are sometimes. Although this was a great color, I just couldn't do it. I've already shipped it off to my friend Ashley (who doesn't despise lip gloss). I did take some swatches though, so I'll share those below.

Amino Herbal Hyration Mask
I was super excited to see this in my bag.  I absolutely LOVE face masks but the skin on my face is really dry and kind of sensitive to certain products so I have yet to find a mask that actually works for me.  Even ones that are "made for dry skin" leave my face feeling tight and flaky and worse than before.  I have already used this product twice and I love that it's sensitive enough for daily use. I will post a full review of this product soon.

Starlooks Pro Luxe Longwear Eyeliner Pen (Black)
This one was a little intimidating.  I suck at liquid eyeliner. But I do definitely plan on using this one and practicing my skills. The good thing is, if I can't figure out how to do my eyeliner well, I can always use it for Halloween! I plan on possibly doing a sugar skull makeup this year and this will definitely make drawing it on easier!

Lord & Berry Nude Lipliner (#3035)
This has to be the most "prep school" item in the entire bag.  Just the name screams preppy "I should be in Blair Waldorf's bag!". I'm actually really looking forward to using this product. I never wore lispstick much so I never had a need for lipliner. Now that I've started wearing lipsticks more, I'm venturing into the unknown and, again, if I don't like it, it'll come in handy for Halloween!

Overall, I was decently happy with this bag.  I think I was more impressed with the bag itself than by the products inside but I can see myself getting some use out of them.  My favorite product was definitely the Amino Herbal Hydration Mask.

Review
(This review was originally written in December 2013 but never posted).
I was doing a mini little Bath & Body Works haul because I was in desperate need of a new fragrance. I'd been using the same body mist from Victoria's Secret since I was pregnant and I needed something new and different. I saw this on the website and noticed that it had great reviews so I thought I would give it a try.

I will be giving this to a family member or something because as much as I hate to say it, I do not like this scent at all. I sprayed it one time, not even directly on myself, and it was an extremely overpowering cologne-type smell. I'm not a fan of cologne-type fragrances and this was so strong that I immediately got a headache from it.

It is long lasting, I definitely have to give it that. But I just couldn't like it.

I would not repurchase this product.

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 17th and runs through Sunday, August 23rd in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 14 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

And so here we are.  At the very end.
Kind of sad, really.  I was deeply enjoying myself.
Definitely, definitely, participating next time. :)
Here's my wrap-up for the event:

Overall, I didn't do as well as I would have hoped with the reading part of the event.  I'm a slow reader anyways and it just seemed like I didn't have as much time as I would have liked or I was too exhausted and literally fell asleep while trying to read.  My little one has been teething this week and has been a handful.  You mommies know what that's like.
Other than that, I'm pretty happy.  I completed all the challenges except one, I read a really good book and almost finished another awesome one.  I can't wait until the next event!

Thanks Bout of Books for giving me an awesome week! I'm gonna miss it!

Bout of Books 14: Challenge #7 & Reading Update

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 17th and runs through Sunday, August 23rd in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. Day seven.  I can't believe we're already on the last day. :( I'm pretty bummed actually, because I really enjoyed this.  I know that I will definitely be participating next time and I'm curious to see what kind of readathons I'll choose to participate in next!

For this Challenge, you need to recommend 3 books (and only 3 books) that you have read this year that you think should be recognized as something great - something everyone should have on their TBR list for this fall.

Here are the three books that I chose:

#Nerd (Hashtag, #1)
Cover Source: GoodReads.com
#Nerd by Cambria Hebert
Two people from completely different worlds are about to be thrown together...

In more ways than one.

She wants to keep her scholarship. He wants to stay on the team. An awkward alliance doesn't even begin to cover Rimmel and Romeo's relationship.

But that's about to change.

It starts with a dare. An initiation. A challenge.

Quickly, it turns into more. But when you're a victim of your status, there is no room for anything real. The rules are clear and simple.

Stick to your circle.

And never fall in love with anyone on the outside.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)
Cover Source: GoodReads.com
Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone by JK Rowling
Harry Potter thinks he is an ordinary boy. He lives with his Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia and cousin Dudley, who are mean to him and make him sleep in a cupboard under the stairs. (Dudley, however, has two bedrooms, one to sleep in and one for all his toys and games.) Then Harry starts receiving mysterious letters and his life is changed forever. He is whisked away by a beetle-eyed giant of a man and enrolled at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The reason: Harry Potter is a wizard! The first book in the "Harry Potter" series makes the perfect introduction to the world of Hogwarts.

Crane (The Legends Saga, #1)
Cover Source: GoodReads.com
Crane by Stacey Rourke
The Horseman is unending,
his presence shan’t lessen.
If you break the curse,
you become the legend.

Washington Irving and Rip Van Winkle had no choice but to cover up the deadly truth behind Ichabod Crane’s disappearance. Centuries later, a Crane returns to Sleepy Hollow awakening macabre secrets once believed to be buried deep.

What if the monster that spawned the legend lived within you?

Now, Ireland Crane, reeling from a break-up and seeking a fresh start, must rely on the newly awakened Rip Van Winkle to discover the key to channeling the darkness swirling within her. Bodies are piling high and Ireland is the only one that can save Sleepy Hollow by embracing her own damning curse.

But is anyone truly safe when the Horseman rides?

And here we are on day six of the readathon.  I swear, it's going by suuuuper fast!  I can't believe how fast it's flown by.  Today's challenge was quite nice and I enjoyed it a lot. :)

Hosted by Steph In Wonderland
For this challenge, come up with a list of the top 4-5 states/places you'd love to visit and find a book (you either read or want to read) that takes place in that state/place or a book by an author who lives or is from there.

There's only one place on this list that I have already been to but that doesn't mean it doesn't deserve to be on this list. New Orleans has always had a place in my heart and the two times that I've been there were for medical purposes for my daughter and I never got to really experience it. So, now that that's out of the way, here's my list:

  1. The Rainbow Singer by Simon Kerr (Ireland)
  2. The Tales of Beetle The Bard by JK Rowling (England)
  3. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (Forks, Washington)
  4. Marigny Street by Annie Rose Welch (New Orleans)
  5. Wildefire by Karsten Knight (Author lives in Boston, Massachusetts)

So... today I didn't do the challenge.  It was to pair up two characters that you think should be together, from different books, that have never met before.  Soulmates.  I honestly just could not  think of any characters that should go together. My brain switched off today.

Also, wanna know what else I kind of annoyed myself by doing?  I've been listing the books here that I've read, am reading, or plan on reading but I completely forgot that, as a family, we've been reading Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban every night before bed. So... I've been reading that and not logging any progress for it.  Ohhhh well... :)

Bout of Books 14: Challenge #4 & Reading Update

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. And here is day four of the Bout of Books Readathon.  Not very much longer left!  I feel like I kicked this readathon off strong and then I slooowly dwindled down.  That's pretty much what happens with every readathon that I attempt. This week just seems to be busier than usual. Maybe it's just because I would rather be reading. I dunno.  But either way, here's today challenge.

Four Seasons In Book Covers
For this challenge, you need to convey the four seasons in book covers – through color, title, cover, etc. You can be literal or take a more creative approach. Anything goes! Just show me four seasons in book covers.

I didn't really have any on my shelf that fit this challenge.  I found a couple that might but... I dunno.  I just wasn't feeling them.  Since I first read this challenge, I kept coming back to an anthology that one of my friends/favorite authors wrote for. It fits this challenge perfectly, with the exception that it isn't multiple books laid out.  It is an anthology though, so maybe it counts?  lol

Elementals: A Paranormal Fantasy Romance Anthology
